Story and art by Billy Kay
(Opening panels will be mostly be surrounding areas and settings?)
(The environment around) (Focus on background) (Add captions and speech bubbles)
“I don’t like sand.”
“I prefer the water.”
(Shot of a desert waste land)
“People think that Sand and water are two different things
Like the desert and the sea.”
(Panel of a cloaked man walking in the distance)
“In a lot of ways there the same thing.”
(Close up of the cloaked man, he is dressed in heavy desert gear lots of robes and goggles to protect his eyes from sand storms)
“It’s not like the sea but in ways it reminds me that
The sea is not as lonely as the desert.
The sea can move it, it looks alive.
(The man pulls out a pair of binoculars from his satchel that hangs besides him)
(He pulls them up to his face and is looking through them)
(The panels show him looking through the lenses into the distance he sees nothing but sand and shimmering heat)
“The desert it makes me feel alone.
Just me and the heat, and the journey ahead.”
(A full splash page of the character standing over a hill of sand with the title displaying next to him)
“Water it is life it is what we need to survive.
To live we need it in our system.”
(Small sand storm passes over him as he is tracking down a steep hill of orange sand)
(A full panel of a young girl holding his hand they are at a beach)
Girl: why is the water so beautiful?
Caption: she loved the water
(He looks up as if he is upset)
“Sand it reminds me of ash.
Denudation of what the earth was.
The Scorched orange ashes of the old earth”
(He reaches for his water bottle)
“Humans are like plants in ways we need water and sun light to survive
Without them we will wither away and become un-healthy”
(The cloaked man with his bottle in hand looks up and holds one of the goggles lenses he stares at the sun)
“But even to much sun light can kill plants.”
(He takes a drink from his bottle but finds out that he is empty of any liquid)
“What I would do for some water right now...”
The cloaked man sighs.
